Ok, so I will level with you I am terrified of writing this review. It has taken me so long because I worry that whatever I have to say about this book will not do it justice – so maybe just go out and buy the book.

This is the book for which the staff at Quercus Publishing House were given a reading day when the proofs first came in. Referred to as, “The Lost giant of American literature” by the New Yorker, this is the book that since finishing reading it earlier this month, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.
